How do I purchase made-to-order items from Bowerbirds?

We offer a number of options to buy-now on the website.

If you are looking for a your own furniture/fabric combination then we can bespoke that for you. The best way to start is by visiting our Bowerbirds Chelmsford showroom at 59 New Street, CM1 1NE, where you can explore our range of sofas in Chelmsford and consult with our team. What delivery options are available?

UK Delivery: for those within the UK, our sofa delivery service ranges from £40-£125 depending on your postcode. 

Outside of the UK mainland: please contact us for a bespoke quotation.

What if my sofa doesn’t fit in my space?

All of our sofas are fully bespoke and made-to-measure. Because of this, we cannot refund your sofa if it does not fit. To avoid this issue, please ensure that you have read our page about how to make sure your item is a suitable size.

How should I prepare my home for delivery?

Before delivery day, you will need to make sure that the pathway the furniture will take is clear and that the room it's going into is prepped for its arrival.

Our delivery team will make every effort to deliver your furniture without damage to your paintwork, wallpaper and woodwork but we advise that you protect these areas and remove any valuables such as rugs, mirrors and pictures to avoid any incidents. 

If our delivery team have concerns about potential damage to your property or possessions, or if the pathway or room has not been prepared, then they will leave the item at the entrance to your property. You will need to sign a waiver to accept responsibility for any damage that may occur during the delivery and placement of your order if the delivery team feel that there are potential issues.

If there is limited parking or potential delivery issues, please let us know in advance so that the delivery team are aware.

Can I alter the size of a sofa, chair, or footstool?

Yes, most of our manufacturers can modify dimensions to meet your exact requirements. This includes adjustments to height, depth, and width. Contact us to learn more about the specific models available for customisation.

What should I do if I spill something on my sofa?

Refer to our [Product Care section] for guidance on fabric and leather maintenance. Our Bowerbirds Chelmsford showroom offers easy-care and stain-resistant fabric options, as well as durable commercial-grade leather hides. Additionally, we offer a stain guard service for fabrics that are not inherently stain-resistant.

I can’t find what I’m looking for on the website. Do you offer other models?

Yes, our website showcases a limited selection of what we can create. We have a wide range of sofa designs, chair shapes, footstools, and hundreds of fabric choices. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please reach out, and we’ll help you find or design the perfect piece.

What is the process for buying made-to-order items at Bowerbirds?

Consultation: share your preferences and requirements with us, including any design ideas, mood boards, floor plans, or photos.

Options & samples: we provide free fabric samples, quotes, and assistance in selecting the best options within your budget.

Order placement: once decided, we’ll send an invoice for payment and order your items. Upholstery manufacturing typically takes 10-14 weeks, while curtains, if fabric is in stock, will take 2-6 weeks.

Delivery coordination: once your items arrive at Bowerbirds, we’ll arrange a delivery time that suits your schedule.

How can I pay for my Bowerbirds order?

You can pay directly online via debit or credit card. For made-to-order items, we’ll invoice you, allowing for payment by bank transfer or card via an included payment link. We also offer Klarna options: pay now, in three instalments, or in 30 days (subject to terms and availability).
